MICHIGAN FORESTS FOREVER TEACHERS GUIDE
THEN AND NOW |
Divide the class into five groups. Each group is responsible for researching one of the five time periods of Michigan forest history (see forest history module). Using information from this website, other websites, books, speakers, and other sources; have students present their information to the class in any number of formats (scrapbook, books, murals, web page, hyperstudio/powerpoint, etc.). Keep these reports for later use. Below are two Project Learning Tree exercises that address history.

If your community is like most others, it's now quite a bit different than it was 100, 50, 25, or even five years ago. This activity will help your students to understand how we, as people, affect and alter the environment in which we live.
